For a few years now I have recommended using the car as a great place for quiet time. Most people do not find any time in their day for complete silence, car rides to and from work give you a great opportunity for that. Most of us have busy schedules, I always laugh when someone says how busy they are, we are ALL busy! But it may be very hard for you to dedicate and hour of peace and quiet a day, but if you have a 30 min drive to work than you just found an hour!
I have also recommend to dramatically decrease your time watching or listening to the news. I did not say completely tune yourself out from what is going on in the world, but what type of news do you hear the majority of the time? Good or bad? Bad, right? With most of our stress levels high do you think it is a good idea to pollute your head with more problems? I know I have enough issues I have to deal with on my own, let alone the world's right? If you watch and listen to the news everyday that can be draining and stressful. And it's always the same thing over and over. Especially talk radio. I say this as a long time talk radio listener. I use to love it, and still if I let myself I could be right back in to the trap of listening to it. Why? It creates emotions, that's their goal to begin with. The majority of the time it is fear or anger. I have been committed for the last few years not to listen to it, even when I had my own radio show, i wouldn't listen to any other show. My show didn't count btw, it is good for your health! But talk radio is toxic, bottom line. It is impossible to perform at your peak state with listening to that garbage. Now some shows, can be very uplifting and encouraging, but you know the ones I am talking about. What is being in peak state? It is the best state of YOU. You performing at your highest level possible. Constantly filling your head with negative messages that stimulate fear and anger makes reaching that state impossible. Cut out the negative, put in more positive and watch your life change.
