Sorry it has been a couple of weeks since my last blog. If you have read my blogs in the past or keep up with me on my radio show or on social media outlets, than you know that i have had an on going dispute with Whole foods. And they keep on disappointing me, again and again. They do a very good job, of portraying a store that cares about local farmers and sustainable farming. And would only carry the best products for their customers. Yet they carry so many GMO products, and when confronted they continue to make excuses that it is too hard to source non GMO but that they are working on labeling all of GMO products in their store. Don't worry it will be done by 2018, so just consume GMO's for the next five years. We are being fooled into buying "quasi-natural" products at extremely high prices in their stores. when you can find products that come from the same sources at Walmart for half the price. But Whole Foods knows how to package it pretty and "green" and sell it for a high price. Check out thi article on Whole Foods giving the USDA the green light to allow deregulation on GMO alfalfa, which will start to even effect organic products due to wind patterns. http://worldtruth.tv/usda-forces-whole-foods-to-accept-monsanto/
This is extremely heartbreaking, as for years I have had so much trust in Whole Foods. Growing up my parents drove every week an hour and a half to a whole Foods to stock up for the week. Heck, I even use to own stock in Whole Foods! I truly believed that they had our best interest in mind. And at one time i believe they did, but as it usually does, corporate greed and profits take priority. And with Whole Foods, it's no different. So on a happier note, I was really excited when Trader Joes started putting stores in the DFW metroplex, being that I am a California native and love many of their products and prices. But when I started researching Whole Foods more and more I started looking for a store that took a stance on GMO. And guess what, there was Trader Joes. Who took a hard stance against GMO's and does not allow any of their private label products to be derived from GMO. And they even go above and beyond on random testing to keep them accountable. If you have ever shopped at a TJ's than you know probably 90 % of their products they carry are private label. Which shows in their prices, they cut out the middle man. Cheapest wild caught salmon and grass fed beef i have ever seen. So for now on, my family will be shopping at Trader Joe's. And I will be telling my patients, the listeners of Healthcare Intervention, and anyone else I encounter. I won't let Whole foods make their profits off me anymore. Don't let them fool you either!
