What is the quickest thing you can do to improve your life? Raise your standards. This can be done immediately, right now as you read this blog. What does that mean? It means that your old standard, if you created any at all, will no longer suffice. They are no longer good enough. Most people go through their life not even setting their own standards, or may in certain areas of their life and not in others. Whether it is your relationships, your health, your finances, you have standards whether you set them or not. They may have been set for you, consciously or subconsciously. They may have been shaped by others or life experiences. Your first love may have been abusive, and since then your standard is pretty low, and you attract more abusive relationships. The thing is most people do not set crappy standards, they either set high standards or none at all. Most people don't set a standard of being 25lbs overweight, if I hit 26 I immediately go to the gym until it is back under 25. So first thing, if you don't have any set standards set them. This is extremely empowering. If you do have them, they may be outdated, raise them. The old ones won't do you any good. You either are moving forward or backward, you are either progressing or regressing, you are either growing or dying. You see if you are 25 lbs overweight and now you have a standard of not being overweight than you MUST change something to meet your new standard. Because everyone knows they should lose weight or should go to the gym, but once you set the standard than that should becomes a MUST. "Most people just SHOULD all over themselves." -Tony Robbins. Michael Jordan when asked what separates him from the rest said he doesn't compete with the rest. He only competes with himself, every single day he was dedicated to being better than he was the day before. He had set a standard for himself, and anything less just wouldn't do. And what did that result in? The best basketball player the world has ever seen and probably ever will. Create your new standard right now.
