The last couple of weeks I had been fighting something off. I don't know if it was a cold or what, but I had congestion and fatigue that just kept lingering. I have blogged in the past on my supplement regimen when I feel the first sign of any sickness potentially coming on. But this stuff just hung around so I wanted to tell you about another weapon that I have in my arsenal for fighting the crud. And the best part, it is very simple. I give myself a fever.
Why would I want to give myself a fever? Well a fever is the body's way of fighting viruses and killing off germs. Your interferon levels are at their highest during a fever and your body is raising it's core temperature to kill off anything that doesn't belong. That is also why I have blogged in the past not to be so quick to break a child's fever. It is the body's healing process. So how did I manage to give myself a fever? I did it with a steam room and a sauna. I went to my gym almost daily last week, and would alternate between them while taking breaks when needed for around an hour each day. Raising my body's core temperature and signaling natural healing pathways. And guess what? This week, I feel great. So add this method to your arsenal and remember always try to induce and aid in the body's natural healing processes and not just mask the symptoms.
