![]() Over 30 years of use, the measles vaccine has never adequately protected children. In fact, it has only made measles a more dangerous disease. Right now here in North Texas there has been a huge scare leading t many rushing to get vaccinated. Even those who have had true measles (which offers lifelong immunity) or have already been immunized will nevertheless be given a just-in-case booster shot. Dr Viera Scheibner, an Australian principal research scientist who developed a true breathing monitor for babies at risk of cot death, saw that her product mostly sounded alarms after babies had been vaccinated. This prompted her to study thousands of medical papers on immunization. The medical evidence she has amassed conclusively demonstrates that the measle vaccine doesn't work. In the US, with immunization rates as high as 98 percent in some areas due to enforced vaccination, epidemics of measles still occur at three- to four year intervals. Epidemiologists have a hard time explaining this recurrence, and most arguments over the measles vaccine failure have blamed low compliance (even when more than three-quarters of children are vaccinated); improper storage of vaccines; even vaccination at too early an age. What they ignored over some 30 years of use was the more plausible and obvious reason: the simple inability of any measles vaccine devised to date to prevent measles. When the measles vaccine was being developed in the Sixties, its detractors argued that measles is a mild disease with rare serious complications and negligible fatality in normal children. About half the recorded deaths occur in persons with serious chronic disease or disability. It is also well-known that measles is an important developmental milestone in the life and maturing processes in children. Nevertheless, by 1965, several vaccines had been introduced for the prevention of measles, including one killed virus vaccine and two versions of weakened live vaccines. Atypical Measles Soon after measles vaccine was first released, a new and serious problem arose: vaccinated children were contracting what became known in the medical literature as atypical measles, an especially vicious form of measles resisting treatment. A 1965 study in Cincinnati described nine cases which occurred there two years earlier during an epidemic of measles (Am J Dis Child, 1965; 109: 232-7). The authors followed 386 children who had received three doses of killed measles virus vaccine in 1961. Of these 386, 125 had been exposed to measles and 54 had developed the disease. Many of these children were so ill with high fever and pneumonia that they had to be hospitalized. Two years later, a study described the occurrence of atypical measles in 10 children who had received killed measles virus vaccine five to six years earlier. Nine children developed pneumonia which resisted all treatment (J Am Med Ass, 1967; 202: 1075-80). Serious reactions also occurred in children originally injected with killed measles virus, and then re-vaccinated with live measles virus (N Engl J Med, 1967; 277 (5): 248-251). Another illness sparked by the measles vaccine was so-called "mild measles" with under-developed rash, which exposes children in later life to dangers of chronic diseases, including cancer. One study found evidence of a relationship between lack of rash in measles and increased incidence of degenerative and autoimmune diseases (The Lancet, 5 January 1985). Many practitioners witness that cancer patients have a particularly small number of infectious diseases of childhood to report in their medical history. Outbreaks among the vaccinated Against all the evidence, measles vaccines continued to be described as effective and safe by some, all the while the medical literature teemed with reports of ineffectiveness and of serious reactions. A study published in Pediatrics in 1970 investigated an outbreak of measles in Florida from December 1968 to February 1969 and found there was little difference in the incidence of measles among vaccinated and unvaccinated children. The only significant difference was in how the disease developed. While 43 per cent of unimmunized children developed a rash, only 12 per cent of those vaccinated developed a proper measles rash (Pediatrics, 1970; 46 (3): 397-402). In 1971, the American Journal of Public Health conceded that measles was on the increase and that "eradication, if possible, now seems far in the future" (Am J Public Health, 1971; 61 (11): 2304-10). Reports of vaccine failure and atypical measles in vaccinated children continued. One study in the city and county of St Louis, Missouri, described an epidemic of measles over 1970 and 1971, during which 130 children were hospitalized and six died. The attack rate was much higher in vaccinated than unvaccinated children. In this case, vaccine failure was admitted as the major contributor to this epidemic (J Pediatrics, 1972; 81: 217-30). Other studies showed that measles vaccines were not provoking a proper immunologic response in vaccinated children. In one report, measles antibodies were found in the blood of five from seven unvaccinated children with a measles infection, but in only one of seven previously vaccinated children with clinical measles, and in only one of seven previously vaccinated well children who had been injected with the weakened measles virus vaccine (J Pediatrics, 1973; 82: 798-801). While measles vaccines were effective in elevating measles neutralizing antibody in a number of children (although not in all), this was demonstrated to be irrelevant in preventing the disease (Pediatrics, 1971; 48 (5): 715-29). Nevertheless, by 1975, in a widely distributed Public Health Report entitled "The benefits from 10 years of measles immunization in the United States", authors J J Witte and N W Axnick claimed victory over measles in 1978 by vaccination, and the US government predicted a measles free country within three years. An adult disease Not surprisingly, all the pro-vaccine researchers and government officials passed lightly over the fact that measles epidemics continued to occur consistently in fully vaccinated children. They also ignored the fact that measles was suddenly becoming an adult disease. By 1975, not only was the number of reported cases of measles six times higher in the first half of 1975 compared with 1974, but more and more adults were contracting measles (J Am Med Ass, 1976; 235: 1028-31). Not even booster vaccination of previously vaccinated children made any difference. One study in 1979 warned of an increasing number of adolescents contracting measles. While in the pre-vaccine era 90 per cent of all measles patients were 5 to 9 years old, once the measles vaccine was introduced, 55-64 per cent of measles patients were older than 10 years. The average age of patients during the measles outbreak in the UCLA was 20-24 years (Ann Int Med, 1979;90 (6): 978-80). Furthermore, once vaccines were introduced, whether or not a patient had measles or had been vaccinated didn't seem to correlate with what was generally considered evidence of immunity in the blood. Re-vaccination of these young adults was associated with high rates of major side effects, with about 17 per cent reporting significant fever, eye pain and the need for bed rest. By 1981, instead of achieving eradication of measles, the US was hit repeatedly by major epidemics of measles, mostly in fully vaccinated communities. Atypical measles persisted as a "continuing problem", according to E M Nichols (Am J of Public Health, 1979; 69 (2): 160-2). The age of those contracting measles continued to climb well above 10 years and was associated with serious illnesses. Adults and babies below the age of 2 years, in some cases only a few months old both populations free from disease before the advent of vaccination were now contracting measles. By 1984, the establishment blamed these outbreaks on use in the Sixties of what the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now termed the "ineffective formalin-inactivated ('killed') measles vaccine", which had been administered to 600,000 to 900,000 individuals from 1963 to 1967 ( MMWR, 4 October 1984). However, other studies demonstrated significant failure among the supposedly improved vaccines as well. One outbreak of measles occurred in junior high schools in Hobbs, New Mexico, where 98 per cent of students had been vaccinated against measles with the live vaccine shortly before the outbreak began (MMWR, 1 February 1985). Another outbreak of measles occurred in a secondary school population in which more than 99 per cent had records of vaccination with live measles vaccine (New England J Med, 1987; 316 (13): 771-4). Another issue of the MMWR (2 September 1988) dealt with 76 measles outbreaks in the United States. Most of the cases described were primary vaccine failures. During some outbreaks, re-vaccination with the same vaccines was recommended, even though the scientific evidence demonstrated that re-vaccination was ineffective. One study showed that antibody levels in re-immunized children may fall after several months to very low levels, and that children vaccinated twice may still experience clinically recognizable measles, although in a milder form. The Next Generation This observation highlighted another looming problem, namely, that generations of children with so-called "inadequate immunity" would grow into adults with no placental immunity to pass on to their children, who would then contract measles at an age when babies are normally protected by maternal antibody. This was indeed confirmed by another study, which demonstrated that "hemagglutinin-inhibiting and neutralizing antibody titers are lower in women young enough to have been immunized by vaccination than in older women" (J Pediatrics, 1986; 108 (1): 671-6). Perhaps the most unfortunate thing about striving to eliminate measles by vaccination is that there is no clear need to do so. A large group of Swiss doctors formed a working committee questioning the Swiss Health Department's US inspired MMR policy. When the process of general inflammation is suppressed, they said, measles may subsequently affect the ears (otitis), the lungs (pneumonia) or the central nervous system, giving rise to the feared complication: encephalitis. "We have lost the common sense and the wisdom that used to prevail in the approach to childhood diseases," they concluded. ![]() Fifty years ago today, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made the famous "I have a dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln memorial. It has gone down as one of the most memorable and crucial moments in the history of our country. I have listened to the speech in it's entirety and I doubt King could have ever dreamed the current state of our health today. I read an article today on the website http://www.anh-usa.org titled "Medicaid is Drowning Our Kids in Toxic Psychiatric Drugs!" And let me tell you, it is sickening. According to the article; "The number of children on Medicaid taking antipsychotic drugs has tripled in just ten years—and shockingly, many of them are under the age of three." I'm sure when King envisioned kids of all races holding hands and playing in the same playground he didn't envision them doped up on drugs. " The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is launching an investigation into the over-prescription of antipsychotics to children on Medicaid, and has already asked all fifty states to provide more oversight of these prescriptions. Medicaid more than doubled the amount it spent on antipsychotic drugs between 1999 and 2008 (the last year for which data is available), and now spends $3.8 billion on antipsychotics, more than any other class of drugs." You can read the full article here http://www.anh-usa.org/medicaid-psychiatric-drugs/. We are drugging our children to death! Over prescribed because they won't sit still. If a kid can sit still for 8 hours a day, there might be something wrong with that kid. This is hardly the dream King envisioned. We are not free if we are dependent on prescription drugs. And with the rise of prescribing to kids under the age of three, what do you think that is setting their lives up to be like? They are going to on drugs their entire life! The US is 5 percent of the population, yet we consume 73% of the world's drugs! Re read that if that didn't knock you out of your chair. In a recent Mayo clinic study, researchers determined that nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug, and over 50 percent are on two or more, and 20 percent on 5 or more! We are not free... We have cam a long one since King's speech, but we are not done... I have a dream for America, and it's to not be used as money makers for pharmaceutical ![]() Have you seen the movie Flight? The airplane movie with Denzel Washington? Well if you haven't, 1) I highly recommend it and 2) Here's a spoiler alert. This movie came out I think over a year ago, but I had a patient just recently watch it and it came up during one of his visits. Denzel's character is a commercial pilot who, long story short, crash lands a plane that otherwise would have killed everyone on board and saves a bunch of lives. He's a hero, but with only one problem, he was drunk and high on cocaine when he did it. That might sound unthinkable to most of you. How irresponsible, how dangerous, how selfish. And i would agree with all of these statements. But I'm going to tell you the same thing I told this patient. Millions of people are putting people at risk just like this everyday on drugs. The only difference is, they have a prescription for it. Think about it, millions of people are on anti depressants, pain killers, sedatives, tranquilizers, just to name a few. Prescription drugs that have mind altering effects. Drugs that have been shown to produce suicidal tendencies. Drugs that have been shown to produce homicidal tendencies. These people are flying air planes, they are driving your children's school bus, they are teaching your children, building and designing structures, I could go on forever. I recently had a patient that took himself, which is dangerous to do, off of his anti depressant because he was driving his car over an overpass and thought to himself I dont care if I just drive right off this right now. What if that person was driving a school bus! Millions of people are on mind altering drugs that are in roles or positions that could have devastating consequences to peoples lives. There was a story about a month ago about a pilot in Minnesota not being able to fly because he had alcohol still in his system. We can test for alcohol, we don't test for prescriptions! When you start to think about the impact this could have to your life it can get extremely scary. Did you know every school shooter in the last 15 years has been on either an antidepressant, anti psychotic, or both? I'm going to leave you with a quote from Dr. BJ Palmer; "We never know how far reaching something we may think, say or do today will effect the lives of millions tomorrow." So if you know someone who is struggling, or if you are struggling with pain, depression, or anxiety call us and schedule a free consultation. You never know who you may be effecting. Millions of people never reach their full potential because of these limitations. But so many times I hear people making excuses on why they don't have time or why they can't take charge of their health and start living to their maximum potential. I was fortunate to be in a church service yesterday at Watermark Church in Dallas and heard a very powerful message from Pastor Todd Wagner. And the phrase that stuck with me was... "Your excuses are not unique, they are actually very common...". Obviously I am going to apply this a little differently in this blog than he did in his Sunday message. But how true is that! I hear the same excuses all the time. The kids are starting school. We have this vacation coming up. Work right now is just really busy. Your excuses are not unique I hear them daily! Everyone is busy! I am busy! But the point is disease doesn't care how busy you are, sickness doesn't wait to fit in to your schedule. You have to make time NOW or it can sneak up on you later. We use excuse to justify our current situation. In other words, so we can feel better about ourselves. But this can be very dangerous. We can justify and make excuses all we want for why we are in our current situation. But at the end of the day, that doesn't change the situation we are in. Another phrase I took from Wagner yesterday was, "One of the roles of a leader is to give a reality check". So maybe today that is exactly what you need to do. Give yourself a honest evaluation of your current health status. What's it going to be like in 10 years if you keep down the current path? Better or worse? Get a baseline and take action. I challenge you to move today not tomorrow. To schedule a free consultation at our clinic Adjust ![]() As Americans we work hard our entire life to save up enough money to someday retire. We put money away in retirement funds, 401K's, IRA's, savings accounts, it is a priority for most of us. But let me ask you a question... If you work your entire life to retire and when you get there your health isn't good enough to enjoy it, what has all the work and saving been worth? Absolutely nothing! You should have never worked a day in your life! You might as well been making straw hats on a beach somewhere, which I contemplate daily. But the point is that work was wasted. I tell patients you basically have two options when you retire. Cruise ship or nursing home, you decide. Most people give me a funny look when I say this, but think about it. They cost the same amount! My wife has a family member who is in a nursing home, and for what that costs, my wife and could be on a cruise all year long. Nursing homes or assisted living is very costly and expensive. Now her family member could afford to be traveling the world right now, but when you need around the clock supervision that isn't an option. Believe it or not there isn't a CVS or Walgreen's on every single corner in other parts of the world. And only 1 percent of Americans are making it to 60 on zero prescriptions. Only one percent! If you are traveling on a cruise ship all year, which people do, it is hard to get prescriptions filled. You have pour as much attention in to your health as you are other aspects of your life. There is nothing more important, and unfortunately some people do not realize that until it is too late. You don't want to be the person someday sitting on their couch trying to jot down the number from an infomercial to see if you qualify for a free jazzy scooter. That is not a cool place to be. Now I'm not making fun of people who are in this situation. But if you ask these people, because i have, did you see yourself in this chair 20 years ago? Every single one of them say no or no way! No one says, yea i had my red pearl color picked out and everything. It starts small, overweight, then type 2 diabetes, then diabetic neuroma or neuropathy, than you are getting a leg amputated. Or you have low back pain, which becomes debilitating, and then you can't exercise, thus you gain weight, and the cycle never ends. The number one cause of disability is low back pain. Invest everyday in your health. Sometimes this means you need to spend money. Whether it's a gym membership, organic groceries, chiropractic care, or even vacations to manage stress. The number one cause of bankruptcy in this country is medical bills and expenses. If you think you can not afford it, you can't afford not too! I own two gyms called Psycho Gym here is the Dallas area and if someone tells me that they can't afford a membership, I always ask them right away do you cable? How about internet? That usually runs $150 a month. That would pay for your membership. Is TV and internet making you healthier? More in shape? Adding years to your life? Of course not! Invest now, why you still can. If you read any biography or watch any documentary on successful people, whether it's money, fame, or spirituality, success can be defined as many things...they all set goals. Generally people do not arrive at success by chance or luck. Well I guess some people are born in to it, but would you really call that success? Highly successful people have very similar traits and habits. And one of the biggest is goal setting. They all set goals... You see it is impossible to achieve something or reach something if you do not have a clear cut idea of where you going. So first off, if you aren't already setting goals in your everyday life I highly recommend it. They are even more powerful if you write them down and read them to yourself routinely. Writing and reading positive thoughts are called affirmations, and are extremely powerful. Even at first if you do not believe them, if you read them to yourself long enough you can literally trick your brain in to believing it. But the people that i encounter that are already setting goals are generally only setting goals in one aspect of their life. Money, success, material possessions. Im not saying that this is bad, but it is only one aspect of your life. And if we only nurture one aspect of our life, other aspects can wilt. You need to set some goals regarding your health. Where do you see your health in the next 20-50 years? The human body was designed to last for 120 years, that's been scientifically proven, it's up to us if we are going to make it that long. What do you want to feel like? What is the most important aspect of your life? If we don't have clear health goals we can be easily deterred. A drug was recommended, so that's the quick fix, but then you find yourself on another drug due to the side effects of the first one. Then you get use to taking prescriptions and find yourself on 5 or 6. Then one of your organs are failing and you need a surgery. Then your health is gone, and you will never be the same. Health is the most important aspect of your life, no matter how much money you have you can not buy it back. Set down today, maybe with your significant other or family, and map out a road map. A road mp to a long and healthy life. ![]() If you didn't already know every week in my office we have a workshop called Regaining your Youth and Vitality, it's where we teach the keys to staying young and healthy for a lifetime. In this workshop I ask a simple question; What's the difference between someone who is dead and someone who is alive? Say I had two people laying right here on the floor, one dead, and one alive. And say the dead person had all his parts, nothing missing, what's the difference? What makes someone ALIVE? I get answers like, The one who is alive's heart is beating. Or the one who is alive is breathing, or has blood flowing through them. But then I ask, the dead person has a heart, why isn't it beating? The dead person has lungs, why aren't they breathing? So what's the real difference? This is a hard thing for most people to define or at least explain. The difference between the two is called innate intelligence. Innate intelligence flows from your brain down your spinal cord out nerves to every cell, organ, and tissue controlling every single function in your body. You don't have to think about your heart beating or lungs breathing, they just happen. That is where the term innately came from. Like you innately knew to do something, without even thinking about it. This is flowing through your body at all times. Some call it energy because it can be measured as electricity. Some call it your soul, because it is the power that animates the living world. This intelligence has the power to heal, and overcome anything. All it needs is no interference. To schedule for our next workshop contact our office. With the mosquito and west nile scare here again this year, people are resorting to sprays and deterrents that contain harmful toxic ingredients. If you didn't catch my entire blog I did on it in more detail scroll down until you see the blog title Mosquitoes and the ugly picture of one and read. This blog is to recommend a product that my family and I have been using this summer that has been surprisingly effective. It is called the Patio Egg by Skeeter Screen. We bought ours at Whole Foods and cost us around $17. I had seen it up front for a few weeks, and was a little hesitant on purchasing one because I had doubts on it's effectiveness. I was pleasantly surprised on how well it works. It uses natural essential oils that deter the skeeters. It gives a nice smell to our back patio as well. It is also refillable and the amount that comes with the initial purchase it should last you a couple months. I love this new product and highly recommend it for your family. Here's also my wife's own recipe for a safe natural mosquito repellent that you can make right at home. Combine in a 16oz bottle: -15 drops lavender oil -4 tablespoons vanilla extract -1/4 cup lemon juice -fill remainder with water and shake Smells great and works great too! ![]() If you went through grade school in this country than chances are you were checked for scoliosis at some point in school. The school nurse came in had every bend down and touch their toes. And you found out if you had it or not. We see a lot of scoliosis patients in my office, since we specialize in curve correction. Curves that shouldn't be there like with scoliosis, or with curves that have been lost and should be there. Well every patient that we treat with scoliosis had been checked by their nurse too. And let me tell you, it is not an easy thing to do with the naked eye. Some can slip through, because there are multiple types of scoliosis, and some are impossible to see while bending or standing. That is why I highly recommend getting an xray taken. That is the gold standard, the sure way to know if it is there or not. And that is why I xray any kid for free. It is so much easier to fix it while you are young, as you age it gets harder and harder and sometimes impossible. But I use to have a hard time telling parents the statistics behind scoliosis. And i say parents because the majority of the patients i treat with it are young adolescent or teenage and mostly female. But the stats are that scoliosis reduce your life span by an average of 10 to 15 years. You can see why it would be hard for me to tell a parent that. But i have to, it's my job, it doesn't do anybody any good to sugarcoat it. Why do you think they check every single kid in America for it? Just because it makes your shoulders or hips a little uneven? Or because your purse will fall off one of your shoulders?! No they check every single kid in America for it because they know these statistics. That is why I beg you to get your child checked. No what do they do if the nurse finds scoliosis. If it's not that bad they will put them in a brace. Which one weakens muscles supporting the already damaged structure and can in the long run make the curves worse. And second do you think it is easy for a 12 or 13 year old girl to wear a big brace to school over there clothes? Of course not! It can have damaging emotional effects. So I've heard that that is a rough time in a girl's life to begin with. I'll find out in ten years when my daughter gets there. If the scoliosis is moderate or severe they will cut open their back and put titanium rods down the length of her spine. Again it doesn't fix anything, they hope it keeps it from getting worse. But of course this comes with huge risks as it is a very risky surgery. We fix scoliosis with out surgery in this office everyday. Call and ![]() What's the difference between someone who get's cancer and someone who doesn't? Most people have no idea, they think it has just been the hand they've been dealt. Bad luck, I guess. It's just in my genes, runs in my family. Science is proving that is not true! Dr. Samuel Epstein, one of the nation's leading oncologists states that less than 2 percent of cancers have a hereditary component. So then, what's the difference? Cancer in it's simplest definition is just abnormal or mutated cells. We all have them, thus we all have cancer. But your body turns over these cells on a daily basis, and makes sure they don't get out of control. So say, I may have 250,000 abnormal cells in my body as we speak. Well when that count reaches around 1 billion, that's what is diagnosed as "cancer" and is detectable by modern day tests. So you probably know someone who had cancer, went in to remission, and then a few years later it came right back. That's because they only got below that billion mark, they never actually fixed the reason why their body wasn't turning over these cells to begin with. Just killing the abnormal cells with radiation or chemo doesn't get to the root of the problem. To put this in to an analogy, we all know someone who died far too young from lung cancer caused by smoking. For this example lets say they died in their 40's. But we also all know or have heard of someone who smoked all their life and lived in to their 90's and died from natural causes. Let's say those two people both smoked 2 packs a day, so the exact same amount of cigarettes. What was the difference between the two individuals? They were exposed to the exact same amount of toxins. The 90 year old's body did a more efficient job turning over those abnormal cancer cells and dealing with the toxins. So what controls all healing in our body? The central nervous system. That is why it is so vital for it to be functioning as close to 100 percent at Our culture has gotten really caught up in finding a cure. Race for the cure, walk for the cure. We have all wore ribbons, gave a dollar or two at the grocery store to raise money. We need to take the focus off the cure and place it on the cause. Does that make sense? We are waiting on a miracle drug when 98 percent of cancers are caused by lifestyle choices.
