3 Practical Solutions When You're Having a Bad Day

I don't think there is anyone who hasn't experienced a bad day. And there are many articles out there that give great advice on how to combat the blues. Some will mention practicing mindfulness, expressing gratitude, meditating, and a lot of other stuff that I completely agree with. But sometimes when I am having a bad day, I don't want to be grateful for anything! So here are three solutions that I have found that just flat out put me in better mood, almost without fail.

Get a Haircut.
I don't know what it is, but every time I get a haircut I just feel better. It can help boost self esteem, increase confidence, and completely change the course of the rest of your day. It reminds me of an old saying we had in football; "Look good, Feel good, Play good." I will warn, this requires having a good barber or hair stylist. If not, it can have the complete opposite effect.

Go Workout.
You have probably heard the saying, "No one has ever regretted a good workout." And it's totally true. I find it gets my blood flowing, endorphin's are released, and I feel much better leaving the gym than walking in. I also find when I am feeling down, and I decide not to work out, it brings my mood down further. I tend to fixate on things, and how crappy I feel is now because I didn't workout.

Get Adjusted.
Obviously I am biased on this one. But I find after I get an adjustment I get a better sense of well being. And there is science to back this up. After i get off the chiropractic table, I am standing taller, breathing deeper, and feel much better.

Don't Let It Suck You In...

With the recent tragedy in Orlando it is easy to get sucked in to the non stop media coverage of the events that took place at Pulse Night Club. Even for someone like me who has a general disdain for mainstream media, I find my self angry and curious about details and motives. But don't let it suck you in!
I hate to say it, but events like this are the network's dream. Not because they wish this to happen, but it is very good for ratings. So they will drag this story out for as long as they can, creating breaking news out of the smallest details. Creating fear, panic, and evoking emotions to persuade or influence you in a certain direction depending on which channel you watch.
My heart goes out to the lives taken, and the family members that are left behind to pick up the pieces. But do not let the media suck you in. It is not good for YOUR mental health.

Inducing Fevers.

The last couple of weeks I had been fighting something off. I don't know if it was a cold or what, but I had congestion and fatigue that just kept lingering. I have blogged in the past on my supplement regimen when I feel the first sign of any sickness potentially coming on. But this stuff just hung around so I wanted to tell you about another weapon that I have in my arsenal for fighting the crud. And the best part, it is very simple. I give myself a fever.
Why would I want to give myself a fever? Well a fever is the body's way of fighting viruses and killing off germs. Your interferon levels are at their highest during a fever and your body is raising it's core temperature to kill off anything that doesn't belong. That is also why I have blogged in the past not to be so quick to break a child's fever. It is the body's healing process.
So how did I manage to give myself a fever? I did it with a steam room and a sauna. I went to my gym almost daily last week, and would alternate between them while taking breaks when needed for around an hour each day. Raising my body's core temperature and signaling natural healing pathways. And guess what? This week, I feel great. So add this method to your arsenal and remember always try to induce and aid in the body's natural healing processes and not just mask the symptoms.
